Japan: World leaders get down to business as G7 Summit kicks off, The heads of state of the G7 nations – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US – sat down for the first formal meeting at the Shima Kanko Hotel on Kashiko Island, as the 42nd G7 summit kicked off in Japan on Thursday.
The leaders were joined by EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and EU Council President Donald Tusk, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, US President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Juncker, and Tusk smiled for cameras around the breakfast table as the summit got underway on the Japanese Island.
