Laid off workers protest outside KMT presidential candidate meeting with business leaders, As KMT presidential candidate Eric Chu met with leaders of seven business organizations today, 50 laid off factory protestors clashed with police outside. As order was later restored, laid off workers hoped to meet with Chu to express their demands, but were only granted a meeting with a KMT representative. Some 50 laid off factory workers protested outside of this hotel where KMT presidential candidate Eric Chu was to meet with business groups. Fortunately police were on hand and were able to maintain order.Shields were useless as the police couldn’t prevent the outbreak of violent conflict at the start.This group of laid off factory workers hoped to meet with Chu as he addressed business groups, though they were only given the opportunity to speak to a representative.KMT Organization and Development Committee head Su Jun-bin said he would help coordinate talks.
